Following the October release of their full-length record Space and Time, Oshkosh-based bluegrass/folk band Dead Horses today are premiering a new video (streaming below).
“To a God Unknown,” the album’s second track, is inspired by a John Steinbeck novel of the same name.
“I was reading the novel when I wrote the song,” says guitarist/singer Sarah Vos. “I became connected to a muse that I imagine Steinbeck may have drawn from when writing about man’s connection to nature and challenging faith.”
Produced by WeatherBull, an Appleton-based media group, the video was written and directed by Josh Hughes and edited by Evan Brown, who also served as director of photography.
Dead Horses play at Shank Hall in Milwaukee on April 2 and embark on a short tour mid-month that includes stops in Iowa and Colorado.
The band visits Madison on April 24, when it opens for the Infamous Stringdusters at the Majestic Theatre, and on May 31 at Olin Park, when it plays at the Isthmus Food Cart Fest, a celebration of Madison’s bustling street-food scene.
