UP: Chazen Museum of Art. The UW-Madison art museum opens Saturday with a $43 million, 86,000-square-foot addition. Architect Rodolfo Machado tells Isthmus he wanted to make the original building more "friendly" with the addition. "If you don't feel tempted to go in, I'd be very surprised." See Jennifer A. Smith's story on page 16.
DOWN: University of Wisconsin. The university must take an extra $66 million funding cut over the next two years, on top of a $250 million cut already in place, in order to help the state balance its budget. UW spokesman David Giroux says: "We do not know how we can take these cuts without negatively affecting the education of our students and the expectations of their families for a quality experience."
