UP: Chazen Museum. The estate of the late Terese and Alvin S. Lane donates art worth an estimated $30 million to the UW-Madison's premier art venue. Included in the donation are works by Picasso, Christo, David Smith and Alexander Calder. "I wouldn't hesitate to say that, as far as 20th century Modernism, this makes us a major study center," museum director Russell Panczenko tells the State Journal. The works will be on display when the museum opens its new wing in October 2011.
DOWN: State Rep. Jeff Wood. Prosecutors increase a misdemeanor impaired-driving charge against Wood (I-Chippewa Falls) to a felony for an incident in Monroe County because he has two prior convictions this year. If convicted, Wood faces up to six years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
