UP: Dylan Brogan. An obscure issue unearthed by the young WTDY producer and raised in these pages - that ownership of the former Lincoln School in James Madison Park will revert to the city in 2034 - proved pivotal in the decision this week by an ad hoc committee to reject a proposed sale of the land underneath. Mayor Dave Cieslewicz appointed the committee after the Park Commission's earlier rejection of the sale.
DOWN: Fred Risser. Madison's state senator is kicked off the influential Building Commission. Risser, 81, served on the commission for nearly 40 years and wanted to continue his post. But Senate Majority Leader Russ Decker (D-Weston) decided someone else should get a chance to get experience on the committee. Decker and Risser have clashed over Risser's push for a statewide smoking ban.
