UP: Lyme disease. Cases of Lyme disease have doubled in Dane County, with 35 cases reported in June. Last June, there were only 17 cases reported. Local public health official Amanda Kita-Yarbro tells the Wisconsin State Journal, "There was a warmer spring, so ticks may have been out earlier."
DOWN: Dane County Sheriff's Office. Massachusetts consultant Matrix Consulting Group says the sheriff's office is overstaffed and could cut a net 15 positions - 14 patrol deputies and five detectives while adding other hires - to save $1.8 million.
