UP: New York library's Kirsten Larson doll. The Wisconsin State Journal reports that an American Girl doll owned by the New York Public Library and loaned out to children for several years recuperated at the American Girl headquarters in Middleton recently. The company cleaned and refurbished the doll, modeled after a Minnesota pioneer girl, and sent her back to the Big Apple in a hospital gown and bracelet. Hopefully her insurance deductible is reasonable.
DOWN: Wisconsin's uninsured. Gov. Scott Walker turns down an estimated $4.4 billion in federal funding over the next six years to expand Medicaid and provide health care to 175,000 childless adults. Robert Kraig, executive director of Citizen Action of Wisconsin, says, "If Gov. Walker turns down billions in federal money for BadgerCare, there is no doubt that many Wisconsinites will die as a consequence."
