UP: Wayne Bigelow. The chair of the Dane County Democrats retains his post, defeating challenger Russell Wallace by a vote of 208-123. Bigelow, chair since 2003, has never before faced an opponent. He vows to help liberals keep a majority on the Dane County Board next spring and help Democrats win back the state Assembly next fall.
DOWN: Sex offenders. A new city ordinance that would bar registered sex offenders from being within 250 feet of schools, playgrounds and day care centers passes the Public Safety Review Board. The ordinance would not apply to less serious offenders, like teenagers convicted of having consensual sex with other teens. The full city council is expected to vote on the measure in December.
