A pedestrian discovers a decomposing body in the wooded 7900 block of Tree Lane on the city's west side. The pedestrian initially reports the body as having been decapitated, but investigators later realize it was just badly decomposed. The identity and cause of death are not immediately known, but foul play is not suspected.
Monday, 6.10
Authorities charge Brian C. Stowe, 28, with 62 felonies, including sexual assault and photographing women nude without their consent. Stowe allegedly drugged, sexually assaulted and photographed eight women, six of whom worked with him at Epic Systems in Verona. Madison police say none of his coworkers had any idea they had been assaulted or photographed. The investigation began after a 17-year-old girl reported being drugged last October, and then came in and out of consciousness to find Stowe assaulting her.
Gov. Scott Walker appoints former Lt. Gov. Margaret Farrow, former state auditor Janice Mueller and UW-Platteville student Joshua Inglett to the UW System Board of Regents.

The Global Conservation Group of Watertown offers a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons who severely beat a large snapping turtle at a golf course in Delavan. The animal was transported in critical condition to Fellow Mortals Wildlife Hospital in Lake Geneva but later died.
The Legislative Fiscal Bureau reports that changes made by legislators to Gov. Walker's proposed budget have created a $505 million deficit for the 2015-2017 budget. State Rep. Jon Richards (D-Milwaukee) criticizes Republicans for taking a projected surplus and "blowing it on tax cuts for the rich." The Assembly is expected to take up the budget next week.
Devante James, 18, is convicted for his role in the shooting death of a rival gang member, 20-year-old Jonathan Wilson, on the north side Oct. 20, 2011. James, who was 16 at the time, pleaded no contest to being a party to first-degree reckless endangerment and second-degree reckless endangerment. Demitrius Matticx, 19, was found guilty last month of first-degree intentional homicide for killing Wilson.

The Wisconsin State Journal reports that Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin will resume offering non-surgical abortions at its three clinics. The clinics had ceased offering the so-called pill abortions in April 2012 in the wake of a state law that required doctors to make three separate consultations before giving medication and to be present when it is taken, with severe consequences for violations. But in April, a Dane County judge issued an injunction against the law.
