Dane County is known for lots of things, including farmers' markets, liberals, the UW-Madison and lakes. But few realize it's also home to one of the largest breeders of beagles that are used in research. In last week's Isthmus, Noah Phillips reports on Mount Horeb's Ridglan Farms, which is part of the largely hidden local economy of research animal breeders. He spoke to WORT-FM producer Dylan Brogan about the story on last Thursday’s In Our Backyard, the station’s evening news program.
