The state Legislature has taken a close look at the laws regulating Wisconsin’s water resources. As Cara Lombardo reported in last week’s Isthmus, it has contemplated laws making it easier to fill in wetlands and for public water utilities to be sold to private companies. It has also approved bills that ease the regulations of high-capacity wells and local control and expert oversight of how property owners use their land. All of this is a concern to those who say the state has “world-class water resources” precisely because it has “world-class laws.” Lomardo spoke to WORT-FM producer Dylan Brogan about the story for the station’s evening news show, In Our Backyard.
