Aryle Dahlke, 66, dies after being found lying alongside Portage Road on the city's east side. A preliminary autopsy finds Dahlke died of blunt force trauma to the head and neck.

The Associated Press reports that Punjab Singh, a victim of the mass shooting at the Oak Creek Sikh temple on Aug. 5, has made slow but "remarkable" progress in his recovery. He has pulled out of a coma and is now alert and responsive. A gunman killed six worshipers and injured three before killing himself.

Tim Russell, a former aide to Gov. Scott Walker when Walker was the Milwaukee County executive, is sentenced to two years in prison and five years of probation for stealing money from a veterans group. Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge David Hansher tells Russell: "I find that you don't even have any shame."
Sen. Tim Cullen (D-Janesville) introduces a rival bill for mining reform. His proposal differs from the Republicans' by creating a longer timeframe for project approval and allowing more public input.
Gov. Walker and Assembly Speaker Robin Vos (R-Rochester) say they are trying to give all families a $200 tax cut in the budget they're working on.
