Friday, May 4 marks the third and final day for the display of the Tibetan flag at the City-County Building and Monona Terrace in downtown Madison.
Attracting criticism from the Chinese government and the Freedom from Religion Foundation swiftly after these plans were announced, a raising ceremony went ahead as planned on Wednesday, May 2.
At least three persons viewing the flag at the City-County Building on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard have shared photos of it online, namely Chris Marsh, Mike Fay and Jonathan J. Miner. Professional photographer Brent Nicastro has also published a portrait of the Dalai Lama, which was just taken at the Madison Club. "I really like this man," Nicastro writes, "he's quite sharp and has a superb sense of humor."
One other person attending the event, which included the participation by members of Madison's Tibetan community, created a short video documenting its raising. This follows below.
