The Aura: Director FabiÃn Bielinsky spins an enjoyable web of intrigue in this tale of an epileptic taxidermist (Ricardo DarÃn) who becomes involved in a heist while on a hunting trip. The movie succeeds as a thriller about an ordinary guy in over his head, and it's a sure winner for audiences enamored of the new Argentine cinema.
Bobby: Emilio Estevez's film focuses on 22 people (Anthony Hopkins, Laurence Fishburne, Lindsay Lohan et al.) who happened to be in the hotel where Sen. Robert F. Kennedy was assassinated in 1968. Estevez attempts to explore major issues like Vietnam, racism and poverty but trips over his own feet.
Le Petit Lieutenant: Set in Paris, Xavier Beauvois' police procedural focuses on the relationship between a rookie cop (Jalil Lespert) and his boss (Natalie Baye), who's returning from an extended leave of absence due to alcoholism. Beauvois underplays everything, so that the big moments, when they arrive, seem huge.
