The Crazies: In this remake of George Romero's 1973 film, an experimental bio-weapon lands in a rural town's water supply and infects the residents. It's a solid thriller, though there's precious little here that hasn't been seen countless times before.

The White Ribbon: A series of disturbing events befall a German village in the 1910s, and the children are acting strangely. There's a genuinely creepy moment or two, but Michael Haneke's mannered film is a bit of a snooze.
