Released this week: Gridiron Gang, The Guardian, Jesus Camp, Saw III, This Film Is Not Yet Rated.
The Guardian: Kevin Costner shines as a renowned rescue swimmer who mentors a troubled young man (Ashton Kutcher) in the Coast Guard. The film sometimes gets lost in depicting the ennobling power of selflessness, but it also manages to poke a few holes in the hero myth.
Jesus Camp: In this revealing documentary, the children of Protestant Fundamentalists are given the 'Onward, Christian Soldiers' treatment at a summer retreat. The film doesn't provide much in the way of context, but its up-close-and-personal look at the scare tactics used to indoctrinate these young souls is an eye-opener.
