For the past 50 years, Madison children have had the opportunity to participate in the day camp program run by Madison School & Community Recreation at Marshall Park. From the first or second week in June to the middle of August, dozens of happy children ranging in ages from 7 to 11 could be seen cooking hotdogs over an open fire, catching their first bluegill, hunting for hidden treasures in the woods, studying the forest wildlife, playing capture the flag, or swimming in Lake Mendota. It was an idealistic time for the hundreds, if not thousands, of Madison children that have had the opportunity and privilege to participate. more
