Why are those people running with canoes? It's the 35th annual edition of Isthmus Paddle & Portage!
On Saturday, July 19, hundreds of people gathered at James Madison Park in downtown Madison with their canoes, kayaks and paddle boards for a three-part amphibious race. It started with a loop on Lake Mendota, was followed by foot race up and over the isthmus past the crowds on Capitol Square, and ended with a trip across Lake Monona to Olin Park, where participants and their supporters gathered for a post-race party. It was another perfect day in Madison.
