Brew Town's orchestra touches down at UW for a performance of the music of Brahms, Beethoven and Ravel, as well as the new work "Festival Fifty," composed by bassist Maurice Wininsky in honor of the group's 50th anniversary.
Locksley
Barrymore Theatre, 8 pm If MTV had a house band, Locksley would be it. The garage-pop foursome -- Madison natives all -- won in mtvU's Freshmen viewer polling and composed the theme song for MTV's "Why Can't I Be You." Now they're headlining the network's Choose or Lose tour, an effort to rally young voters. Hymns open.
The Type in Women Rock for the Cure
The Frequency, 10 pm
Taking cues from Sleater-Kinney, Bikini Kill and the Metric, Madison's punk-tinged three-girls-and-a-boy outfit heads up the Frequency's portion of Women Rock for the Cure. Also playing: Hula & the Ooh La Las, Tangy. A slice of the proceeds from this show go toward Susan G. Komen for the Cure, a charity dedicated to researching and fighting breast cancer. Visit
