"We distribute what you could call non-entertainment videos," Aylmer Press principal Steve Kokette tells George Vukelich for his Listening In column. "We started by distributing Sewing With Nancy, which is produced right here in Madison and syndicated mostly on cable. Then I began looking for other videos to represent. So slowly, over time, we developed a lot of videos for the Aylmer catalog.... Then a friend suggested that I look at something called The Contra War. I did. I liked it, and sought out the producer to see if I could represent it. It turns out he's in graduate school in New York, a writer for The Guardian, and he was more than happy to let me promote it. The Contra War essentially shows that the U.S. was involved in acts of deception in Central America long before Irangate became public.... I do run into a fair number of people who think we're not getting enough information about what our government is doing in the world. Perhaps videos can change that." Kokette and Aylmer Press have since turned their focus to the production of children's DVDs and videos such as Sign Songs and Sign ABCs.
