Madison Art Center Director David Berreth insists recent budget cuts - which cost the museum's publicist and two others their jobs - won't affect exhibition quality. "We did not cut a whole lot from the exhibition budget," he tells staff writer Kent Williams. While at least three scheduled exhibitions will go without publications, no shows have been canceled. "We're still booking shows that are nationally significant, and we intend to keep doing that." Berreth resigns in the fall of 1990 and is succeeded by Stephen Fleischman, who leads the center's transformation into the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art. Berreth is now director of a historical art studio in Fredericksburg, Va.
