Don't miss the fourth annual Isthmus Green Day, which will be held at Monona Terrace in downtown Madison on Saturday, April 16. Please join us -- it's all about making a few smart choices and a few simple changes, to get a little greener and help save our planet for the future.
On the main stage, Isthmus Green Day presentations center around bringing healthy food "From Farm to Table." Join a discussion featuring local people who grow amazing things, including Bartlett Durand of Otter Creek Organic Farm and Black Earth Meats, and Robert Pierce of Growing Power.
The stars from the Planet Green TV series The Fabulous Beekman Boys share tales contrasting life in Manhattan with adventures on a goat farm in upstate New York. Josh and Brent are sophisticated city slickers turned accidental farmers who entertainingly evangelize the not-so-simple life.
The community conversation heats up with the "Healthy Food for Healthy Kids" forum. Folks from REAP Food Group and MUNCH (Madisonians United for Nutrition for Children's Health) join a school district dietician, educators, parents and kids in a lively talk about eating what's good and good for you, even at school.
The day caps off deliciously when a handful of renowned local chefs serve up samples from kitchens in Madison's Originals restaurants, enticing you with fresh aromas and flavor.
Featured break-away sessions during the day include:
- The Chakra House offers self-healing and personal energy awareness
- Focus on Energy highlights home improvements and incentives
- Calvert Investments discusses socially responsible investing
- Midwest Renewable Energy introduces clean and renewable resources
- Madison Environmental Group/eNact remarks on progress in the "Greener, Faster Challenge"
Throughout the day, more than one hundred exhibitors will bring out the greenest ideas for your home, energy efficient transport for your commute, alternative medicine for your body, delicious treats for your taste buds, and just about a zillion ways to otherwise green up your life!
Kids get green too! The whole family can get wild and creative in the IsthmusParents.com Play Zone presented with Aldo Leopold Nature Center, African Youth Outreach, Friends of the Zoo, and MSCR.
