Adrian Fulle's Love 101 takes off from the premise that college students spend most of their time studying each other. Shot on location at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, this low-budget comedy has higher-budget production values, and the acting is quite strong for a film that hasn't landed a distributor yet. (It's showing here as part of a college-town tour to drum up some interest.) But the writing is pretty weak, covering well-trod territory without making many marks of its own. Michael Muhney, who looks like a young Mark Harmon, anchors the movie as Andrew, a nice-enough guy who has no trouble luring coeds to his dorm room but doesn't want much to do with them afterwards. Then he meets Shayna (Mary Kay Cook), who happens to be the woman that his nerdy roommate, Joe (Jon Collins), has been working toward asking out on a date. Complications ensue, but few that we haven't seen many times before.
