River to lake
Today's image is titled River to lake and was photographed by Emily Mills.
This photo shows a dog walking its person adjacent to where Yahara River flows into Lake Monona on the near east side of Madison. The ice covering the surface of the lake is visibly receding from the mouth the river, which remains open through the winter. Lake Monona remains officially closed, though, the latest it has remained frozen since April 1993; more info about its history of ice is available from the Wisconsin State Climatology Office.
