State Street sundown
Today's image is titled "State Street sundown" and was photographed by Kristian Knutsen.
This photo gazes down upon the State Street from its eastern end at the Wisconsin Capitol on Thursday evening. The mall and the Square are both busy with pedestrians, passing cars honking at a vigil held by a small group of peace activists in front of the Forward! statue to commemorate the anniversary of the bombing of Nagasaki. The glass dome of the Overture Center is illuminated purple, flanked immediately to its right by a rippling American flag and across the street by the marquee of the Orpheum Theatre. In all, it's a typical summer evening just before the weekend in Madison, residents and visitors trying to take in as much of summer as possible while it lasts.
