O'Cayz Corral
Today's image is titled Maximum Ink just one day shy of seven years ago on the morning of New Year's Day 2001. It captures in the aftermath of a fire that consumed a pair of taverns on East Wilson Street in downtown Madison: the Comic Strip and O'Cayz Corral. The latter is the venerable music venue that played host to a plethora of punk, alternative, and roots bands through the '80s, '90s and one year this decade. The club was closed following the conflagration, but would be succeeded three-and-a-half years later when Cathy Dethmers debuted the High Noon Saloon, complete with a shrine to the beloved venue.
