What the plow hath wrought
Today's image is titled snow and ice storm last Saturday and a rare hit of lake effect snow on Tuesday.
In all, there's about nine total inches of accumulation on the ground in Madison, not counting of course the growing foothills found on the sides of the street. Don't put that shovel down yet, though, as there's more snow on the way. Another couple of inches are likely to fall on Saturday night into Sunday morning, with a chance for more next Tuesday and Wednesday.
"So, the City has been plowing roads for years, why didn't we get it right this time?" asks Brenda Konkel about the state of the roads following this plunge into winter. She and two other east side alder have issued a series of proposals for the city to deal more effectively with the aftermath from major storms. As she said in the announcement, "more snow is coming, so I would hope we can consider these ideas quickly and find a way to make them and other good ideas out there work."
