Today's image is titled Sleeping under a tree and was photographed by Karen Darcy.
It looks like the upcoming weekend will be the hottest of the year so far, with high temperatures forecast to reach from the upper 80s to at or above the 90 mark. The skies will also be bright, with partly cloudy skies expected over the next three days, making for UV Index ratings in the very high range. This summertime trifecta is completed with an air quality watch issued for most of southern Wisconsin, with ground-level ozone and fine particular pollution reaching unhealthy levels. Today, Friday, marks the third consecutive Clean Air Action Day in Dane County, for which residents and employers are encouraged, among other actions, to reduce motorized activities during daytime hours.
This photo by Darcy, taken during a heat wave last summer, shows a man sleeping under the shade of a tree near B.B. Clarke Beach in the Marquette neighborhood. There will likely be many similar scenes around Madison today.
