Today's image is titled triple decker and was photographed by Beth McConnell.
Every Sunday evening, the Mad-City Ski Team puts on a free performance on the waters of Lake Monona for fans gathered atop Monona Terrace and along its adjacent shorelines. This picture by McConnell -- one in aphoto set featuring 11 images of the skiers -- was shot during their show on June 24 from the southern half of the now alcohol-free Law Park.
The team is at the top of its game in the U.S., winning their second national title in three years last August at the Division 1 Show Ski National Championship in Janesville's Traxler Park. Last Sunday, before their exhibition in their home waters, the team took third at the Mercury Invitational Water Ski Show, also in Janesville.
There are many other photos of the Mad-City Ski Team available online for viewing. The first place to start is Jim's Photos. Professional photographer Jim Kalrath has shot numerous photos of the team's free weekly shows and competitive tournaments on a consistent basis, already publishing five galleries from this year's events on top of another dozen plus from its 2006 series and before. Other recent photos of the team in performing on Lake Monona include a gallery shot by Mark Sadowski early in the season last year, along with a pair of pics taken by Chris Marsh at last Sunday's show. "It's pretty amazing," notes Marsh about a pair of ducks swimming slowly past the skiers and their motorized steeds. "They were completely unperturbed by all the action going on in their lake."
The next show by the Mad-City Ski Team will be at 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 1, as always in front of Law Park.
