Sundance Cinema 608 grand opening
Today's image is titled Sundance Cinema 608 grand opening and was photographed by Karen Darcy.
Madison's newest movie house -- Sundance 608 -- opens to the public today, its six screens at the south end of Hilldale Mall accepting their first projections of independent, art, and international films in a bid to launch a new national theater chain.
Many Madisonians have already had a chance to see a movie there, though, over the course of three fundraisers held early in the week. The third and final event was on the evening of Tuesday, May 8, when Sundance hosted a sold-out screening of La Vie en Rose as a benefit for OutReach, Inc. Darcy shot agallery of ten photos from the party, including shots of the theater's interior, local artwork on display, and several well-known locals taking part in the fun. Tickets for the first week's slate of films are currently available for purchase, both online and at Sundance.
