Federal Orange 1
Today's image is titled Federal Orange 1 and was photographed by Edgar Alan Brightbill.
This photograph depicts the ceiling hanging over the main entrance to the Kastenmeier Federal Courthouse. Built in 1984, the building was designed by Kenton Peters, the iconoclastic Madison architect who is also responsible for the look of the Marina condos on East Wilson Street and the UW Foundation building on Old University Avenue. It is located at the intersection of South Henry and West Dayton streets, seemingly hidden behind the Overture Center despite its own large size. Sheathed in a deep blue metallic siding, the building's entrance also features rings of red-orange neon that give a perpetual warm glow to the icy-indigo structure.
