State Street was buzzing with anticipation and activity on Thursday night at the cusp of the weekend. Visiting tourists were rolling carry-on suitcases down Library Mall, discussing their plans to join the revelry over the weekend. The City and police were testing the stadium lights at the west end of the concourse, a massive bank of bright lights stationed in the Campus Inn parking lot shining sickly down upon the passing pedestrians and buses. Shops offering costumes, tricks, and treats were a flurry of activity meanwhile, with long lines and rapidly emptying racks to be found, such as in this photo at the Ragstock near the corner of State and Gorham. The scene was unmistakable, Halloween is here.
