Next week the Manski campaign will announce its endorsement by former Attorney General Peg Lautenschlager.
Lautenschlager is a popular figure in Dane County, where she bested Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk by a 2-1 margin in the 2006 primary for attorney general, which Falk ultimately won. She is admired in liberal circles for her advocacy on behalf of progressive causes.
Lautenschlager's endorsement extends the battle between supporters and opponents of Falk that began in the Democratic primary, when Dane County Board President Scott McDonell pushed the candidacy of Sup. Dianne Hesselbein against that of Brett Hulsey, a reliable supporter of Falk's.
During the Democratic Primary, Lautenschlager endorsed Fred Wade, who finished in a distant third place behind Hulsey and Hesselbein.
