Still at the Council meeting, and still listening to immigrant rights supporters speak. A supporter of Mahoney's policy has yet to speak.
I came across a couple interesting numbers, courtesy of Political Wire.
First, Republicans now lead Democrats in the generic Congressional ballot, according to a new Gallup poll, 49-43. Apparently that is the largest lead the GOP has ever enjoyed since the poll began in 1950. That means that the GOP is doing better than it was in the run-up to the 1994 election, when the Republicans crushed the Democrats and took back both houses of Congress.
The next number, however, is less hopeful for the GOP. It shows the party's favorability rating to be 36 percent, or 7 points lower than the Democratic Party.
These numbers seem to suggest an opening for Republicans that they have yet to capitalize on. Hence the party's national outreach effort, America Speaking Out.For the Democrats people are skeptical. They better hope the economy keeps improving.
What do you think?
