To all my old readers, thanks for sticking with me and following me my new home at the Daily Page!
To new readers, I owe you a brief description of what The Sconz has been and what I hope it becomes. Until today, The Sconz was a blog I ran that focused on campus, city and state affairs. I started it at the end of last May and since then it's developed a small following (500-700 hits per day) among area political junkies, many of whom do me the great service of correcting me when I'm wrong (it happens).
Like most blogs, I do a lot of commentary (several times a day) on news from other sources (local papers, other local blogs) but I also do quite a bit of reporting myself. I hope to focus even more on reporting from now on, and I'm hoping that some of the sources (local officials etc.) who weren't comfortable with the idea of talking to an independent blogger (with a bizarre email address) will take be more responsive to a reporter with an established paper behind his name. We'll just have to see!
I encourage you to browse the posts of "The Old Sconz," but most importantly, I strongly urge you to comment as much as possible. I know it seems like a pain to have to put in your email address but I assure you, it's really not that time-consuming. If you've never commented before, it takes a couple minutes and from then on you'll be able to comment with an email address and password. Seriously, all comments, from slathering praise to blistering abuse I love it all.
Similarly, do not hesitate to email me with tips, corrections or absolutely anything else, especially if you want to alert me to sensitive material or do not want your identity compromised. And follow me on Twitter (thesconz) and Facebook (Wiss Sconz) to get all blog updates throughout the day!
