I just stopped by the Rainbow Bookstore and found out that Ald. Marsha Rummel is seriously psyched about high-speed rail.
More surprising, however, was her response to my question about a potential train station at Willy St. and Blair St. She gave me a raised eyebrow and said she didn't see how that would be possible, considering the plans that have been approved by the feds who are giving us the money.
Here's the thing: Wisconsin's application for high-speed rail didn't propose a route that would allow a station at Willy and Blair. The reason there's debate between the "Yahara Station" on East Washington and a station at the Dane County Airport is because both of those sites are on the "U" route the federal government approved. Here's the map of the plan on Ald. Bryon Eagon's blog. Eagon, along with Rummel, is a supporter of Yahara Station.
Do you guys know something that I don't?
