A source indicates that Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce, the largest business lobby in the state and a leading advocate for Republican candidates, has made an ad buy worth $750,000 in the Milwaukee media market. The group will likely be running ads against Tom Barrett.
In addition, the National Rifles Association will begin running ads in favor of Scott Walker's candidacy. Although primary opponent Mark Neumann tried to paint Walker as unpredictable on guns rights, pointing to a vote the former state legislator took against a bill to allow concealed carry in Wisconsin, Walker successfully beat back the accusation by responding that he only made that vote in protest of late-night roll call votes in general. Otherwise, he has supported efforts to expand gun rights in Wisconsin.
