In Marie's Story, a Catholic nun helps a terrified deaf-blind 14-year-old after her parents enroll her in a school for deaf children. The storyline sounds somewhat like the life of Helen Keller, but it's based on the true story of Marie Heurtin, who was born in 1885, just five years after Keller. The French film won the "Audience Choice Award" at the 2014 Chicago International Film Festival.
The 2015 Wisconsin Film Festival runs April 9-16. The schedule, including show times for Marie's Story, will be available March 11.
