The winner of two "Golden Keppi" awards in 2006 at the genre-centric Puchon International Film Festival in South Korea, Severance is the second recent film directed by Christopher Smith that is grounded in horror. Unlike his 2004 film Creep, though, his latest film also plays directly for laughs.
Pitched and promoted as The Office meets Deliverance, the story in Severance (as in pay) follows eight employees of a European arms dealer as an office retreat turns into a genuine survival course.
Originally released in Europe in the late summer of 2006, the 90 minute film will be once chance to catch some late night laughs and thrills at this spring's Wisconsin Film Fest.
A trailer for Severance follows below.
