I played Judge Wargrave in my high school's production of Agatha Christie's "Ten Little Indians" (aka "And Then There Were None"), so that lazy literary device holds some particularly dorky memories for me.
One week ago, the Band to Band Combat ballot featured 38 songs from 38 bands. That's a lot of music and you're forgiven if you didn't listen to every song. But there's no doubt that eight songs are significantly easier to listen to than 38, especially if you're doing that listening at work. The expectation here is for some informed decision making as voting for Round Three begins.
The third round is also where campaigning picks up momentum. Expect Facebook pleas, email entreaties, maybe even the odd State Street kiosk flyer. Remember registration is still open for first-time voters. If you've participated in the earlier rounds, you should use the password we originally sent you.
Let's open the mailbag. Mike from Bedford Street writes in wondering if the bands listed at the top of the ballot haven't received a substantial advantage. Good quesion, Mike. Our coding guru here at TDP labs has done some nifty work on the ballot so reloading it will present the bands in a different, random order each time.
Elise from the little table right by the window at Indie Coffee wants to know more about the live finale. It's at The Frequency, 121 W. Main St., on Thursday, Nov. 19. Doors are at 9, music starts at 10. When the final two are decided, we'll take representatives from each band, blindfold them, take them on a confusing and circuitous drive to a remote location and play a round of rock-paper-scissors to decide who will play when, whether they'll be allowed to light their gongs on fire and other live show logistics. Everyone who pays to get into the show that night will have one vote. We'll count 'em up at the end of the night and shower the winner with prizes. And Rolling Rock.
