Is it safe to say that playing the ukulele is a certified trend at this point? YouTube is full of amateurs covering their idols on the compact, easy-to-learn instrument and a search for "bon iver ukulele" results in over 500 videos, many of them simple and charming like this one:
In his look at Bon Iver, Andy Moore writes: "It's hard to overstate the influence Wisconsin and Eau Claire have had on Bon Iver's extraordinary flight." Here's footage of Eau Claire Memorial High School's jazz band covering Bon Iver's "For Emma" with frontman Justin Vernon singing:
Also, a short clip of the rehearsal, with Vernon woodshedding the song right along with the high school kids:
It seems Vernon and his mates have become so beloved around Eau Claire that they're now called upon to help with testimonials, like this one for a local fitness trainer. Bon Iver gets ripped!
Finally, here's a nice demonstration of what Moore describes when he writes "at heart, Bon Iver are an a cappella group." This clip is from a nice series of videos from the Take-Away Show by La Blogothèque, where they serenade a Paris neighborhood that will only make you dream of moving to exactly that spot for the next few weeks or so...
