Life Goes On is a more than suitable title for vocalist Kyle Henderson's latest labor of love. That's because Henderson's artistic and personal story has so many chapters. His 1980s group, the Producers, were a vanguard New Wave band. He's slogged through 2.5 marriages. He endured unimaginable family loss. Along the way he dabbled in Christian pop-rock, lived in Florida and California and emerged as a soul singer in Madison.
For all his ups and downs, Henderson's voice has never failed him. Precise. Tender. Emotionally intact from phrase to phrase. Nor has his ear for tight, sculpted musical arrangement ever left him. All are on display on Life Goes On.
Highlight: "Ring Around Your Finger (Ring Around My Neck)" is gut-bomb roadhouse blues of the highest order. It's aided and abetted by Jimmy Voegeli's hellhound keys and the rhythm section of Kyle and Ted Henderson. With luck, Alison Margaret's backup vocals will be heard at the CD release party, Jan. 13 at the Harmony Bar.
