10,000 Candles for Yulin Dogs & Cats
Capitol 2 E. Main St., Madison, Wisconsin 53703
press release: Activists in Madison and around the world will be holding a massive candlelight vigil to remember the dogs and cats killed in Yulin.
Every year, 10,000 dogs and cats are brutally beat and murdered for meat for Yulin's dog meat festival. These dogs and cats are often stolen from families who love them and are slaughtered with their collars still on. But we have the power to stop this. Join us on the night of June 30th - marking the last day of the festival - to hold vigil for the innocent animals murdered in Yulin. Bring a candle and a photo of a dog/cat you represent. With 10,000 people demanding the end to this brutal violence, we can save 10,000 lives.
This vigil is meant to honor the dog and cat victims of violence and stand in solidarity with the 100,000+ activists in China who are working hard to put an end to this festival once and for all. This is meant to be a solemn and safe space, racism towards Chinese people or their culture (or any other group) will not be tolerated.
