Have you seen a coyote or fox this year, or missed seeing them around? Coyote and fox sightings have become common in Madison. There are many reasons behind the population size and movements of these interesting animals. The UW Urban Canid Project (UWUCP) is studying red foxes and coyotes in Madison. The project aims to investigate the way canids are living here and how we coexist with these wild neighbors. Dr. David Drake will return for the third year to give us an update on this project and insight into these animals that are increasingly becoming part of our suburban landscape. Dr. Drake is a Professor and Extension Wildlife Specialist in the Department of Forest and Wildlife Ecology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research and extension programs primarily focus on wildlife and wildlife damage management in human-dominated landscapes. He started the UWUCP in 2014.
