November 14: Madison Music Makers (Children's Strings)
Having taught music for many years in urban schools, Madison Music Makers founder and executive director, Bonnie Greene, eventually settled in Madison, offering music lessons in her cozy home on Edgewood Avenue. But, she never escaped the memories of those students in the inner city. In 2007, Bonnie established Madison Music Makers, in hopes of providing a bona fide opportunity to low-income students to learn an instrument at a high level.
Madison Music Makers utilizes the vast network of Madison community resources through partnerships with local middle schools, high schools, and the UW-Madison to provide instructors and mentors to our program participants.
Music Makers is currently teaching bass, violin, and guitar lessons to 70 students, in three of Madison's community centers.
