Madison Youth Choirs
Middleton-Cross Plains Area Performing Arts Center 2100 Bristol St., Middleton, Wisconsin 53562
media release: Madison's Youth Choirs' winter concert series, “In Other Words,” will feature hundreds of local young singers exploring the way composers use musical language to communicate ideas and emotions that transcend text alone. With guidance from our guest Teaching Artists-in-Residence, Tom Cabaniss and Asher Blank, MYC singers have discovered how composers turn feeling into sound and how they as interpreters can turn sound into story through the quietly powerful act of reflecting on another person’s perspective and experience.
MYC’s nine ensembles will perform in three distinct concerts over the weekend of December 13-14, 2025. Selections you’ll hear at the concerts include:
Keith Bissell's "When I Set Out for Lyonnesse," a musical setting of a Thomas Hardy poem that explores mystery, anticipation, and personal transformation. (Performed by Capriccio)
Gregor Aichinger's "Regina Coeli," a work of Renaissance polyphony, brought to life by the voices of Cantilena.
Eleanor Daley's "The Lake Isle of Innisfree," a musical setting of a poem by William Butler Yeats that speaks to the universal desire for peace and tranquility, and nature's ability to restore the human spirit. (Performed by Ragazzi)
