A Beer with Thornton Wilder in Our Town
Cambridge Word Theater
Keystone Grill, Cambridge 206 W. Main St., Cambridge, Wisconsin 53523
press release: Plays in Madison and Milwaukee, even movies, have become so expensive to attend that no one remembers we can do it for free, if we keep it simple. That’s exactly what a short, play-like reading by the Cambridge Word Theater hopes to achieve with its first free presentation at the Keystone Grill in Cambridge. No one will get paid and no one will have to pay.
Thornton Wilder was born 1897, in Madison, Wisconsin. He died at the age of 78. He was an award winning playwright and novelist. His often performed play, Our Town, illustrates the importance of the universality of the simple, yet meaningful lives of all people in the world in order to demonstrate the value of appreciating life. It won the 1938 Pulitzer Prize.
This updated version, A Beer with Thornton Wilder in Our Town, moves the action to Rockdale, Wisconsin, and brings to life Wilder’s dead twin. A reading will be presented FREE by Word Theater in the back room of the Keystone Grill in Cambridge, Saturday, August 6th, at 6 pm.
