press release: Our Latin Jazz Friday session is featuring Madison's own energetic and fabulous ACOPLADOS!
The band says, "We are very happy to announce that this Friday at the new Cafe Coda we will be making a live recording open to the public. This is great a chance to not only enjoy an amazing live show but to help us make our first Acoplados album AND get a copy of the album when it is finished!! For this special occasion we are bringing very distinguished guest artists from Madrid Spain who are here for a week sponsored by the GMJC. We will be recording audio and video and the entrance cover will include a digital copy of the album and the edited footage once it is completed.
Our special guests will be:
Enrique “Enriquito” Rodriguez (trumpet) is at the front lines of the new generation of Latin/Flamenco musicians in Madrid. He has shared the stage with Jorge Pardo, Jerry Gonzalez and Antonio Carmona. His three albums “Me quito el sombrero”(2011), “Alcudio” (2014) and his most recent “Contrareloj” have recieved critical acclaim and he will be able to share this music with Madison audiences.
Rodrigo “El Niño” Diaz (drums) began studying Jazz at the most prestigious Jazz school in Madrid The School for Creative Music (EMC) on a scholarship from the AIE. He has played on stages all over the world and has played with first class luminaries such as in the Jerry Gonzalez Big Band, Afrodisan Big Band, Jorge Pardo, Carles Benavent and Caramelo de Cuba. He is in the middle of the Jazz scene of Madrid forming part of the house band for the Monday night jam at La Negra Tomasa."
