ONLINE: Africa at Noon
media release: Every Wednesday at noon — since 1973! — African Studies Program faculty, students, and community members have gathered for AFRICA AT NOON, a one-hour weekly lecture series bringing diverse African research from scholars around the world to a campus and community audience.
Feb. 16: “Policing the Virtuous in Post-Gaddafi Libya”
Leila Tayeb is a Humanities Research Fellow for the Study of the Arab World at NYU Abu Dhabi. She earned her Ph.D. in Performance Studies from Northwestern University in 2018. Tayeb’s work uses performance ethnography and popular archives to explore the politics of cultural performance and the performativity of political life in and beyond Libya. Her writing has been published in Lateral (the journal of the Cultural Studies Association), the Arab Studies Journal, and the Journal of North African Studies, among others.
The Africa at Noon series will take place virtually this semester until further notice. All are welcome. This event will take place on Zoom. Spring semester info:
