Over the last 18 years, Fraser, “the Michael Jordan of Scottish fiddling,” and Californian cellist Haas have lit up festivals and concert halls across the world setting the standard for fiddle and cello in Scottish and traditional music.
Fraser’s career in performing and recording spans over 30 years with a long list of awards, accolades, radio, television and featured performances on movie credits, including Last of the Mohicans and Titanic. Haas, a graduate of the Juilliard School of Music, has performed with notable fiddlers such as Mark O'Connor, Natalie MacMaster, Irish supergroups Solas and Altan, Liz Carroll, Dirk Powell, Brittany Haas, Darol Anger, Jeremy Kittel, Hanneke Cassel, and Laura Cortese. She has distinguishing herself as one of the most sought after cellist in the world.
The Boston Globe said the performance leaves you thinking" …they'd been playing together for centuries. While his fiddle dances, her cello throbs darkly or plucks puckishly. Then [Haas] opens her cello's throat, joining Fraser in soaring sustains, windswept refrains, and sudden, jazzy explosions. Their sound is as urbane as a Manhattan midnight, and as wild as a Clackmannan winter."
This performance is presented by the Wisconsin Union Theater’s Performing Arts Committee. This concert was supported in part by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts and the Wisconsin Arts Board.
