Alzheimer's & Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin Rally
Concourse Hotel 1 W. Dayton St., Madison, Wisconsin 53703
press release: You may have seen the exciting news about the Dementia Task Force created by Assembly Speaker Robin Vos. The Task Force allows ADAW a unique opportunity to address Alzheimer's issues. Public Policy Director Rob Gundermann will be working with the legislators on the Task Force and urging them to take up some specific issues that impact those with dementia, as well as their families, in our state. Here are a few of the issues Rob will be asking the Task Force to address:
Increased support for in-home care.
Increased funding for respite for family caregivers.
Reform of the protective placement/emergency detention process.
In an effort to impact the actions taken by the Task Force, ADAW will hold a rally on Tuesday, September 29, beginning at the Concourse Hotel from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Learn about the issues before walking to the Capitol to meet with legislators.
In addition, we will be advocating for other issues that may be taken up separately from the Task Force such as bills requiring insurers to list medications covered under plans created through the Affordable Care Act and a bill we had drafted that requires facilities prescribing medications with black box warnings for dementia to get permission from the family or guardian before administering them.
If you are interested in attending or would like additional information, contact Rob Gundermann at 608-232-3408.
